On October 25, Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism in coordination with Chan May Port Joint Stock Company held an opening ceremony, officially putting into operation the Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May port area.
The Center aims to introduce and promote Thua Thien Hue tourism and support cruise ship tourists when docking at Chan May port; creating a good impression on tourists about an attractive, safe, friendly and hospitable destination.
Here, tourism information will be provided to tourists through forms such as: Leaflets, tourism information publications, tourist maps, tourist guidebooks and information, images, clips related to local tourist destinations; consulting tourists with the necessary information to have interesting experiences exploring cultural heritage, community tourism, ecology, spirituality, traditional crafts, shopping, health care.
In particular, this is a place to support cruise ship tourists in cases where they need help and emergency handling such as: Lost identification documents, personal belongings, encountering negative phenomena such as price gouging, theft, uncivilized behavior... when going ashore for sightseeing.
In addition, the center also displays and introduces some specialties, souvenirs, handicrafts, and typical products of Hue to promote the culture and image of Hue to cruise tourists; organizes support services for booking tours, booking transportation, places to experience cuisine, booking hotels and other services when needed.
On this occasion, the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue and related units combined to welcome a group of tourists on the cruise ship Celebrity Millennium, Maltese nationality, of Royal Caribbean.
The Celebrity Millennium ship carrying 2,150 guests and 958 crew members arrived at Chan May port at 6:00 a.m. the same day. The Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May port welcomed tourists on the ship who stopped to visit and look for tourist information when coming to Thua Thien Hue.
In 2024, Chan May port will welcome 41 cruise ships with more than 90,000 passengers and crew members. In the first 10 months of the year, nearly 60,000 passengers and crew members have been welcomed.
In the first 10 months of 2024, the number of visitors to Thua Thien Hue is estimated at 3,254,419, an increase of 26.75% over the same period last year; of which international visitors are estimated at 1,083,768, an increase of nearly 31.45% over the same period last year. Revenue from tourism is estimated at nearly 6,500 billion VND. It is estimated that in 2024, the tourism industry will achieve the planned targets: Welcoming about 4 million tourists, total revenue from tourists reaching 7,500 - 8,000 billion VND.
