Research more tourism products in the Perfume River
On August 9, Mr. Le Tri Thanh - Chairman of Hue City People's Committee inspected the infrastructure serving the development of inland waterway tourism on the Perfume River and surveyed flood drainage plans for the city.
At points along the Perfume River, the Chairman of Hue City People's Committee listened to reports on the current situation of boat wharves, tourist transport activities and the possibility of connecting destinations on both banks.
According to Mr. Le Tri Thanh, the Perfume River and the landscape on both banks have a special advantage to develop unique tourism products. However, exploitation must be studied methodically, both creating new products, extending the length of stay of tourists, and protecting the landscape, environment and cultural and heritage values.
The city requests units to review locations that may form boat wharves, stops, service spaces associated with relics and attractions.
Notably, Hue City will study accommodation and experience models on the Perfume River in accordance with regulations, ensuring waterway traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation and service quality.
Units are also assigned to study and soon identify suitable locations to form areas for building and repairing ships and logistics services to serve waterway tourism activities.
For projects on both sides of the Perfume River, the Chairman of Hue City People's Committee requested to focus on blocks, architecture, materials, colors and lighting systems, ensuring harmony with the characteristic landscape.
Finding solutions to reduce flood pressure for the center
On the same day, Mr. Le Tri Thanh inspected some areas related to the flood drainage plan of Hue City.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested to review the foundation elevation in residential areas, especially places with low foundations, often facing the risk of flooding due to heavy rain, floods and high tides; and at the same time assess the capacity of the current drainage system.
For the Perfume River basin, specialized agencies are required to comprehensively study the reservoir operation process, proactively create flood prevention capacity before heavy rains to reduce downstream water inflow but still ensure water sources for the dry season.
In addition to regulating reservoirs, Hue City is studying the possibility of redirecting part of the flow through appropriate flood drainage routes and branches to reduce water pressure pouring into the central area and the Perfume River.
The plans must calculate the flow rate, flow direction, drainage capacity, impact on residential areas, infrastructure and landslide risk. Flood drainage must be considered on the overall basin, connecting reservoirs, river systems, and urban drainage systems.
In the survey program, the Chairman of Hue City People's Committee also inspected the Thuan An coastal erosion treatment project, requesting the investor and units to focus on construction to ensure quality, technical, safety and progress; regularly inspect key locations to protect residential areas, infrastructure, protection forests and people's livelihoods.
