On December 29, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Ms. Le Thi Be Phuong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of My Tho City (Tien Giang Province) - said that in an effort to promote local tourism and affirm its position on the Vietnam tourism map, My Tho City (Tien Giang Province) organized the My Tho Hu Tieu Festival. This is not only an opportunity to introduce famous specialties but also an opportunity to connect the cultural, culinary and tourism values of the region.
The festival is held for 5 days (December 27 - 31, 2024), with many activities such as the Epic Singing contest; orchid contest and display; book fair; My Tho city expanded martial arts festival; exchange performances of amateur music, excerpts from reformed opera; acoustic music; singing together; contest to display and decorate miniature landscapes of My Tho past and present; children's fashion show... Especially in the series of activities to promote the brand "My Tho Noodles" combined with walking street activities.
“One of the highlights of the festival is the on-site hu tieu processing area, where artisans demonstrate their talent in making hu tieu by hand, from selecting ingredients to finishing the dish. Visitors can not only enjoy the unique flavor of My Tho hu tieu but also experience the process of making this dish,” Ms. Phuong emphasized.
Vice Chairwoman of My Tho City People's Committee Le Thi Be Phuong shared that the My Tho Hu Tieu Festival is not only an event to honor local specialties but also a bridge to bring the image of My Tho city closer to domestic and foreign tourists. Local authorities expect that through the festival, My Tho's tourism potential will be fully exploited, contributing to promoting the economy and preserving traditional cultural values.
According to Ms. Phuong, the festival is also an opportunity for tourism businesses, restaurants and noodle production facilities to promote their products and connect with businesses. Sharing on the sidelines of the event focused on developing the My Tho noodle brand as a key tourism product. With careful investment and attention from both the community and the government, the My Tho noodle festival promises to become an annual event, contributing to affirming the city's position on the map of tourism and cuisine in Vietnam.
According to report No. 5329 of the People's Committee of My Tho City (Tien Giang Province), the total number of visitors to My Tho City in 2024 is estimated at about 969,000. Of which, there are 558,000 domestic visitors and 411,000 international visitors. Total revenue is about 750 billion VND.
