According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, the 2026 Southern Folk Song Festival takes place from May 15 to May 19.
This year, the Festival attracted more than 300 musicians and actors from 11 commune and ward units and freelance contestants in Can Tho city to compete, including 64 performances, of which freelance contestants participated in 20 performances in many genres such as: Solo, Duet, Trio, Choir, skit, instrumental performance, solo performance of folk instruments.

The 2026 Southern Folk Song Festival has the theme of praising the Party, beloved Uncle Ho; praising love for the homeland and country; love between couples; achievements in building the homeland and country in general and Can Tho City in the renovation period... promising to bring attractive performances, contributing to bringing a joyful atmosphere to celebrate the 136th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2026).
This not only continues to introduce and promote the quintessential values of folk songs and traditional folk instruments of the South, but is also a practical activity contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic minorities, folk art, and traditional art, according to Resolution No. 80 dated January 7, 2026, of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture.
Going beyond the scale of a festival, the event is expected to be a close cultural bridge, helping people and tourists have the opportunity to access, enjoy and love the homeland tunes more.
According to information, the 2026 Can Tho City Southern Folk Song Festival will close, perform a report and award ceremony at 7:00 PM on May 19.
