The 2025 Lunar New Year holiday will last from Saturday, January 25 (December 26, year of the Dragon) to Sunday, February 2 (January 5, year of the Snake).
This is the ideal time to plan a trip, visit relatives or experience spring festivals.
According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a strong cold spell will arrive right on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, significantly affecting spring travel activities of people across the country.
Accordingly, from now until January 25 (December 26), the whole country will continue to experience dry weather.
In the North, the day is sunny, light fog appears in the early morning, and the night and morning remain cold.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Hue is cloudy and cold, while from Da Nang to Binh Thuan it is only cold at night and in the morning, with light sunshine during the day.
The Central Highlands and the South are characterized by cloudy, foggy early mornings and mild sunny days.
On January 26 (27th of Tet), a strong northeast monsoon will arrive, strongly affecting the weather across the country.
Especially during Tet, from January 27 to 31 (28 to 3 of Tet), the North will turn very cold, mountainous areas may have severe cold, accompanied by light rain, drizzle and cloudy skies.
The North Central region is also affected with light rain in some places and cold weather. The Central and South Central regions will experience scattered showers, mainly before the 29th of Tet (January 28).
Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and the South will maintain little rain and sunny weather with temperatures gradually decreasing to 30 - 31 degrees Celsius.
From January 31 (the 4th day of Tet) onwards, the temperature tends to increase gradually and is higher than the previous days.
However, people and tourists in the Southeast need to pay special attention to the high tide from January 30 to February 2 (the 2nd to the 5th day of Tet), with the peak tide possibly reaching 4.1m, causing localized flooding in coastal areas and river mouths.
Compared to last year's Tet, the weather for Tet At Ty 2025 will have many differences. The North will be colder with more drizzle, the Central region will have less rain, and the South will not have the same heat as last year, creating favorable conditions for outdoor activities.
Given the above weather conditions, visitors can refer to some entertainment venues in the 3 regions during the 2025 Lunar New Year.
In the North, visitors can experience the highland air and spring scenery in Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Moc Chau (Son La), Ha Giang, Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc), or the capital Hanoi. Enjoy hot dishes such as hot pot, pho and hot sweet soup to keep your body warm.
In the Central region, tourists can visit Hue, the ancient capital, when the rainy season has gradually ended. Or tourists can choose Hoi An (Quang Nam), Da Nang, Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) to enjoy the spring festival atmosphere.
In the South, tourists can visit Nguyen Hue Flower Street in Ho Chi Minh City, explore eco-tourism areas in the West or relax at coastal resorts such as Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) and Vung Tau (Ba Ria - Vung Tau).
For those planning a spring trip, it is necessary to closely monitor weather developments and prepare appropriate clothing.
Especially in the North and North Central regions, the weather will be very cold, visitors need to bring warm clothes and rain gear, especially when going to mountainous areas.
Those traveling in the South should avoid areas at risk of flooding due to high tides during the first days of the new year.
The Tet holiday lasts from January 25 to February 2 (December 26 to January 5), so having a backup plan for outdoor activities is essential to ensure a safe and complete Tet holiday.
