On April 11, at the Vietnam International Travel Mart 2026 in Hanoi, Lai Chau province organized a tourism promotion conference with the theme "Milky Clouds, Full of Identity", to introduce potential, connect travel businesses and expand investment attraction opportunities.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Deputy Director of Lai Chau Department of Finance said that in recent years, local tourism has recorded many positive signs.
In the period 2021-2025, the province welcomed over 5 million visitors, with total estimated revenue of over 3,800 billion VND. Infrastructure, accommodation facilities and services are gradually being invested synchronously.
Emphasizing the development orientation, Mr. Hung affirmed: "With the motto'Businesses prosper - Lai Chau develops', Lai Chau province is committed to always accompanying and creating the most favorable conditions to support businesses and tourists in the process of investing, exploiting and experiencing tourism products".
Possessing a dangerous high mountain terrain and a rich natural ecosystem, Lai Chau is assessed to have many advantages in developing adventure and exploration tourism. Roads such as O Quy Ho pass, high mountain peaks such as Pu Si Lung, Pu Ta Leng or Bach Moc Luong Tu, along with paragliding and trekking activities are gradually becoming typical products, attracting tourists who like to experience.
In addition, the locality also develops outstanding destinations such as Rong May Glass Bridge Tourist Area, O Quy Ho Heaven Gate, Pusamcap cave complex or ASEAN standard Sin Suoi Ho community tourism village, contributing to highlighting the cultural identity of more than 20 ethnic groups living in the area.
Assessing the development potential, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai said that Lai Chau meets sufficient conditions to break through if it knows how to exploit in the right direction.
Lai Chau belongs to the group with the highest and most dangerous terrain in Vietnam. Lai Chau is definitely suitable for check-in and exploration tourism," she assessed.
At the same time, she emphasized that the current tourism trend is "live slowly and live touching". Therefore, localities need to focus on exploiting indigenous knowledge, building experiential products and cultural stories to increase value.
According to Ms. Mai, for sustainable development, Lai Chau needs to shift from extensive to intensive development, taking the green economy and cultural experience as a foundation, targeting long-term overnight visitors with high spending. In addition, the locality needs to remove infrastructure bottlenecks, attract large corporations to form a leading tourism ecosystem, and at the same time improve the quality of local human resources.
The conference is also an opportunity for businesses and investors to explore cooperation opportunities, build products and expand markets. In the coming time, Lai Chau intends to continue to improve the investment environment, develop regional connecting transport infrastructure, thereby gradually affirming its position as an adventure, experiential and unique cultural destination on the Vietnam tourism map.
