Over the past time, besides exploiting the strengths of the sea, plateaus, climate and natural landscape, Lam Dong has gradually turned sports into a new tourism product.
In which, organizing large-scale sports tournaments is considered a direction to increase the attractiveness of destinations, extend stays and promote service industries.
Continuing the recent events, on the evening of August 1st, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Vietnam People's Police Sports Association and units to organize the opening of Sports Festival 2026 at NovaWorld Phan Thiet, Tien Thanh ward.
Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, along with leaders of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and more than 10,000 delegates, athletes, people and tourists attended, creating a vibrant atmosphere on the beach of Phan Thiet.
In the second season, Sports Festival 2026 expands both in scale and number of sports with 12 sports, about 17,000 athletes, coaches, referees, delegates and domestic and international guests. The tournaments will take place until September 22.
Speaking at the opening of the program, Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that Sports Festival 2026 is a meaningful event for the development orientation of sports tourism of the locality in the new period.
Organizing national and international-scale sports events not only contributes to promoting the destination's image but also effectively exploits sports and tourism infrastructure. Thereby creating motivation for service and trade development and attracting more tourists.
According to provincial leaders, Lam Dong identifies events such as Sports Festival as one of the strategic directions to promote destinations, attract investment and make tourism a key economic sector, contributing to the achievement of the double-digit growth target.
Emphasizing the scale of the event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Toan - Vice President of the Vietnam People's Police Sports Association said that this year's Sports Festival gathers police, police, diplomatic representatives, international organizations and athletes from 13 countries and territories. This is a strengthening of cooperation between law enforcement forces of countries through sports, cultural activities and people-to-people exchanges.
At the program, Sports Festival 2026 was recognized as a Vietnam Record as a multi-sport festival with the largest number of independent tournaments belonging to the national and international systems taking place simultaneously in Vietnam, combining cultural, community and tourism activities.
From the spread of Sports Festival, Lam Dong province expects to continue to attract more national and international tournaments in the coming time. Thereby, gradually building a sports tourism brand, promoting existing advantages and affirming its position on the tourism - sports map of Vietnam and the region.
