On June 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the People's Committee of Lam Dong province to organize a workshop to provide information about the Halal market and industry to departments, branches, associations and businesses in the area.

Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Tra - Director of the Middle East - Africa Department (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) - said that the Halal market is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing markets in the world.
With about 2 billion Muslims, the demand for Halal products and services is not only limited to food but also expands to tourism, hotels, finance, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, logistics and e-commerce.
According to Ms. Tra, the scale of the global Halal economy currently reaches trillions of USD and continues to grow strongly.

This is a great opportunity for localities and Vietnamese businesses to expand export markets, diversify partners and participate more deeply in the global supply chain.
Lam Dong is assessed to have many advantages to develop industries serving the Halal market. The locality owns a high-tech agriculture with key products such as vegetables, flowers, coffee, tea, fruits and many high-value processed agricultural products.
In addition, Da Lat continues to be a major tourist center with advantages in climate, natural landscape and unique resort ecosystems.

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Vietnam - Mr. Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi - said that the Halal economy has now developed into a multi-sectoral economic ecosystem, including food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and products and services serving modern lifestyles.
According to him, the global Halal market size will reach about 7,000 billion USD by 2025 and is forecast to increase to 10,000 billion USD by 2030.
Vietnam, with its favorable geographical location and abundant raw materials, has the potential to become an important link in the global Halal supply chain.

Mr. Dinh Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee - said that the locality has initially formed a Halal ecosystem platform with 38 businesses, production and business establishments certified as Halal in the fields of agricultural products, food and tourism.
In the first 5 months of 2026, Lam Dong's export turnover to Islamic markets reached about 40 million USD, while import turnover from Islamic countries reached about 60 million USD.
According to Mr. Tuan, the Saudi Arabia and Islamic countries are strategic target markets that Lam Dong wants to strengthen cooperation in the coming time.
The province will focus on developing a Halal ecosystem with a focus on food, tourism, trade and health care services that are friendly to Muslim tourists, contributing to market expansion and promoting economic growth," Mr. Tuan emphasized.
