According to the Hanoi People's Committee, Hanoi is currently the locality with the leading number of craft villages in the country with 1,350 villages with crafts and traditional craft villages.
Among them, 337 craft villages have been recognized by the City People's Committee, making important contributions to rural economic development with estimated revenue of over 25,000 billion VND per year and creating jobs for about 800,000 workers.
In the master plan of Hanoi Capital 100-year vision, for rural areas, Hanoi City has requested planning to transform thinking from traditional agricultural production to ecological agricultural economy, applying high technology and increasing value; at the same time, focusing on preserving the space of traditional craft villages.
Hanoi is focusing on exploiting and promoting the effectiveness of resources and craft village resources, linking tourism with building new rural areas to develop a green and sustainable economy.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trinh Van Thai (tour guide in Hanoi) - said that currently many international tourists when coming to Hanoi often pay attention to the cultural, historical, and artistic values of traditional craft villages.
Therefore, in the past 2 years, the unit has also opened many tours combined with cultural tourism and unique and attractive craft village tourism to bring meaningful experiences to tourists.
Many destinations near Hanoi that do not take too much travel time such as Bat Trang pottery village, Ha Thai lacquer village, Quang Phu Cau incense stick village, Son Dong fine art village are places chosen by many tourists to experience and evaluate well" - Mr. Thai said.

Not only in Hanoi, Dong Thap province is also actively building and developing craft village tourism. According to the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, the whole province has recognized 53 craft villages, traditional craft villages and 1 traditional craft.
The craft village area currently has 5,862 establishments maintaining operations with more than 26,000 workers, contributing revenue of over 1,432 billion VND.
In addition, rural occupations in the province are also developing quite diversely, the whole province currently has 7,521 production and business establishments with 5 key industry groups, reaching a total revenue of about 34,692 billion VND, creating jobs for more than 65,520 workers, contributing to stabilizing social security in the locality.
Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee assigned departments, branches, localities and related units to implement plans to preserve and develop craft villages according to the plan to preserve and restore craft villages and traditional craft villages that are at risk of fading, being lost, and associated with tourism.
