On September 7, information from Van Chan Commune People's Committee, the locality will organize the Lao Cai Shan Tuyet Tea Festival 2026 for 3 days, from September 25-27, in Suoi Giang and Pang Cang villages, with many cultural experience activities, tea enjoyment, tea picking and promotion of highland specialties.
According to Plan No. 362/KH-UBND dated August 26, 2026, the Festival is organized to promote the value of Shan Tuyet tea trees, traditional culture and typical local products, and at the same time respond to the Muong Lo Culture and Tourism Festival in 2026.
The festival is at the commune level, focusing on introducing tourism potential, the traditional cultural beauty of ethnic minorities, especially the culture of the Mong people associated with tea trees, weaving and brocade embroidery.
Through the event, the locality aims to enhance the brand of Van Chan Shan Tuyet Tea, promote OCOP products, local specialties, expand consumption markets and connect community tourism.
The highlight of the Festival is the Opening Ceremony of the Shan Tuyet Tea Festival, Brocade Colors of Van Chan commune in 2026, taking place at 8 am on September 26 at the event venue of Suoi Giang village.
The program includes recreating the Shan Tuyet tea cultural space, performing traditional and modern tea brewing art, and an art program with the theme "Suoi Giang, Shan tea heritage and thousands of clouds".
Within the framework of the Festival, many cultural, tourism and trade promotion activities are organized such as the highland cultural culinary fair; Shan Tuyet Tea night and ethnic costume performance contest; ceremony honoring the Ancestral Tea Tree.
Visitors also have the opportunity to watch traditional costume performances, art of using beeswax to create patterns on fabric and participate in folk games such as cracking banh giay, tug-of-war, pushing sticks, throwing pao, stilt walking.
Notably, from 10:00 AM on September 26th, there will be livestream activities of handmade tea stars and selling products from Shan Tuyet Tea.
Artisans, production households, tea cooperatives and representatives of villages with raw material areas will directly introduce the tea roasting process, promote products and connect with consumers.
On the morning of September 27, the tea picking contest is expected to take place in Suoi Giang and Pang Cang villages.
Visitors can participate in Mao Truc forest experience routes, check-in at Coc Tinh area, visit tea areas, experience tea picking, handmade tea roasting and enjoy tea.
To prepare for the Festival, Van Chan commune deploys landscape embellishment, propaganda, ensuring security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation, food safety and conditions on electricity and water to serve tourists.
The 2026 Lao Cai Shan Tuyet Tea Festival is expected to become a space for cultural exchange, tourism promotion and trade promotion, contributing to promoting the value of Shan Tuyet tea, brocade culture and local community tourism potential.
