Golden season calls customers to the highlands
In mid-August, terraced fields in the highlands of Lao Cai began to turn yellow. This is also the time when tourist destinations are busier, especially on weekends and National Day holidays September 2.
Along with the ripe rice season scenery, many cultural, sports, culinary and community experience activities are organized, creating more attraction for tourists.
In Y Ty commune, rice is starting to ripen, bringing one of the times that tourists look forward to in the year.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Cong Kieu - Deputy Head of the Party Building Committee of Y Ty commune said that room rates have not increased, but the accommodation capacity on weekends and holidays is almost full.
According to Mr. Kieu, Y Ty currently has nearly 30 accommodation establishments. Room rates are commonly around 300,000-400,000 VND, while resorts have prices of over 3 million VND.
Along with the ripe rice season, Y Ty commune is implementing the 2026 Autumn Festival with the theme "Y Ty - The Attraction of the Great Forest", taking place from August 22 to November 15.
The festival includes cultural, sports and tourism experiences, notably the opening program on September 12, the "Y Ty Golden Season" race and the first Lao Than peak climbing race.
Preparing for peak season
In Bac Ha commune, there are currently 104 accommodation establishments with 1,120 rooms, including 11 hotels, 34 guesthouses and 59 homestays.
The food service system has 20 restaurants and 40 eateries, along with about 1,000 workers directly participating in tourism activities.
For the Autumn Festival "Autumn Flavors" from August 28 to September 6, the locality is expected to welcome more than 90,000 visitors.
Room rates are currently commonly around 600,000-800,000 VND/room. The number of new bookings reached about 50%, due to the Festival plan being nearly 2 weeks away from being issued and promoting communication.
Mr. Bui Minh Hai - Chairman of Bac Ha Commune People's Committee said that the locality has reviewed and inspected the current status of rooms, hotels, and homestays that are capable of serving tourists during holidays and festivals.
“Basic assessment of the number of rooms, hotels, and homestays is also guaranteed, meeting the needs of guests during this period,” Mr. Hai said.
In Mu Cang Chai, Mr. Giang A Tang - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said that the locality is planning to organize an art program to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2nd with the participation of about 1,300 people.
On the morning of September 2nd, at the terraced fields of Hang Dang De village, the September Flag Raising Ceremony will take place with the theme "Proud of Vietnam from the scenic land".
According to Mr. Tang, the government has requested sightseeing spots, amusement parks, restaurants and accommodation establishments to proactively plan to welcome, divert traffic and serve guests during peak holidays.
Meanwhile, in Sa Pa, one of the most attractive destinations in Lao Cai, accommodation establishments are also actively reviewing room occupancy, human resources and services serving tourists before the National Day holiday.
According to records, many hotels, homestays and accommodation establishments in the central Sa Pa area have begun to receive bookings for the September 2nd holiday.
Facilities focus on checking rooms, equipment, dining areas, and preparing personnel to serve the increased number of customers during the holidays.
Information from the Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to prepare to serve guests on the occasion of National Day September 2nd, the sector has requested localities and businesses to proactively review accommodation establishments, services and passenger reception plans.
Business establishments must list and publicize room and service prices, sell at listed prices and ensure committed quality.
At the same time, proactively monitor the weather, have response plans and temporarily suspend operations when unsafe risks appear due to heavy rain, landslides or unusual situations.
