On the afternoon of June 15, Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh - Vice Chairwoman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee - chaired a working session with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related departments and agencies on the plan to implement tasks for the last 6 months of the year.
At the working session, delegates agreed on the content, scale, time and budget for organizing many key events. In which, the first Lao Cai Provincial Sports Festival is expected to open on the evening of September 18 at Cam Duong multi-purpose gymnasium with 6 sports, the opening ceremony will be broadcast live on local radio and television.

The national national women's football tournament is scheduled to take place in August in Nghia Lo ward. In particular, the international cycling race "One track - two nations" Lao Cai (Vietnam) - Hong Ha (China) is scheduled to be held in December.

Regarding cultural activities, the Muong Lo Tourism Festival 2026 is expected to take place at the end of September at Nghia Lo Stadium, towards celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Thai Xoe Art being recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

On the occasion of National Day September 2nd, the Shan Tuyet Tea Festival and brocade colors will be held in the province center. In addition, there will be the Mong Khèn Festival, the To Day Flower Festival and Spring 2027 welcoming activities in Mu Cang Chai.

Concluding, Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to proactively implement the plan to organize events according to schedule, clearly assign responsibilities to each unit and individual to ensure efficiency and quality.
The Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee also requested the cultural sector to urgently survey the facilities serving the Muong Lo Tourism Festival, coordinate with local authorities to renovate and embellish the Muong Lo stadium and auxiliary items, ensuring the best conditions for major cultural and sports activities of the province in the coming time.
Since the beginning of the year, Lao Cai province has welcomed more than 6.1 million tourist arrivals, of which international visitors are estimated at over 841,000 arrivals. Total accumulated revenue from tourists is estimated at 22,773 billion VND.
