Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi - Vice Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee informed that the 6th Ooc Om Boc Festival - Ngo Boat Race in Soc Trang, Mekong Delta Region and the 1st Soc Trang Culture, Sports and Tourism Week in 2024 will take place from November 9-15 with 11 activities attracting about 620,000 people and tourists (nearly 1,500 international visitors, up 10% over last year); there are over 19,000 guests staying. Total revenue for festival activities reached about 80 billion VND, up 19% over the same period.
In particular, during the 2 days of the Ngo boat race (November 14-15), about 200,000 people came to watch and cheer, an increase of 30% compared to last year.
The leader of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province said that through these activities, the unique cultural identity of Soc Trang province is introduced and promoted to domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, attracting investment in tourism.
"This is an opportunity for the province to continue orienting the development of key tourism products and based on the province's potential and strengths according to the Soc Trang province planning approved by the Prime Minister," said Mr. Khoi.
