India is currently one of the fastest growing outbound tourism markets in the world with more than 27 million visitors going abroad in 2019 and is expected to double within 10 years. The group of family guests, couples and tourists looking for a warm vacation at the end of the year is showing a strong increase, especially at island destinations with increasingly improved service quality.
Meanwhile, Phu Quoc with its temperate climate, large resort ecosystem and cultural diversity, has become a suitable destination for this segment of visitors. However, previous indirect air connections through Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City have caused travel time to be extended, limiting the competitiveness of the Pearl Island.
The new series of direct flights will solve this bottleneck: direct flight is only 5 hours, short time, seamless experience.
According to the plan, the flight series will take place from December 10, 2025 to January 10, 2026, with a total of 8 flights, operated by Air India. This is a strategic step marking the enhancement of cooperation between the two brands, while promoting the image of Vietnam on the global tourism map.

Each Air India flight is expected to serve about 160 passengers, bringing a total of about 1,400 Indian tourists to Phu Quoc during the one-month operation period. The flight schedule is built in the direction of optimizing the travel time: the plane left New Delhi at 7:40 p.m. and landed in Phu Quoc at 2:00 a.m. the next morning. In the opposite direction, passengers depart from Phu Quoc at 3am and return to Delhi at 6:40am.
This favorable flight speed allows visitors to immediately start experiential activities from the first morning in Vietnam. This is considered an important first step to boost the Indian tourism market, one of the fastest growing and most potential tourist sources for Vietnam tourism.
Mr. Ngo Minh Quan - Deputy Director of Overseas Market at Vietravel, commented: "The series of direct flights with MakeMyTrip not only creates favorable travel conditions for tourists but also helps Phu Quoc affirm its position as a leading sea and island destination in the region. The Indian market is growing strongly and is one of our strategic focuses in the coming period. The cooperation with Make My Trip not only enhances customer reach but also contributes to making Phu Quoc a more attractive destination on the international tourism map.
To make the journey complete, the company has specially designed a comprehensive 5-day, 4-night package schedule for the Indian group, including hotels, transportation, tour guides, sightseeing tickets, culinary services, Gala Dinner to the most prominent attractions in Phu Quoc.
The first flight on December 10, 2025 will be welcomed by communication activities right at Phu Quoc airport, with the participation of representatives of local agencies, contributing to bringing a warm welcome as soon as visitors set foot on the island.
