According to the latest forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the country's maritime areas may welcome six to 10 tropical storms from September to December 2024.

This information not only affects the Philippines but also has a great impact on countries in the region, including Vietnam.
PAGASA senior weather expert Rusy Abastillas said there are expected to be 2-3 storms in September, 2-3 in October, 1-2 in November and 1-2 in December.
The paths of these storms tend to shift from north to south over time, with the potential to affect different parts of the Philippines.
Notably, Ms. Abastillas warned of the possibility of a La Nina event forming in the next three months, although it is expected to be weak.
This could result in “near normal to above normal” rainfall from October 2024 to January 2025 in most parts of the Philippines.
This situation may also affect Vietnam, especially the coastal provinces of the Central and Southern regions. Storms forming in and near the East Sea are likely to directly or indirectly affect our country's weather, causing heavy rain and the risk of flooding in the Central and Southern regions.
In this situation, tourists need to regularly monitor weather forecasts and storm warnings from authorities of the host country and Vietnam.
If you are planning to travel to the islands of the Philippines, Vietnam or other Southeast Asian countries between September and December, be prepared for the possibility of schedule changes due to bad weather conditions.
Once you arrive, always pay attention to announcements and instructions from local authorities regarding weather conditions and storm preparedness.
Prepare essential items such as flashlights, spare batteries, drinking water and dry food to cope with power outages or traffic disruptions due to storms.
Avoid outdoor activities, especially activities at sea, when there is a warning of storms or heavy rain.
For tourists in Vietnam, take special note when traveling in the Central and Southern provinces during the rainy and stormy season, which usually lasts from September to December.
With these forecasts, both locals and tourists need to be extremely vigilant and proactive in responding to possible extreme weather situations.
It is important to stay informed and follow instructions from authorities to ensure safety on the road during the upcoming rainy season.
