The space “Memories of Hanoi – 70 years” takes place from October 2 to October 13, 2024. At the Phung Hung mural space, the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter coordinates with artists and researchers to decorate and arrange a model of the ancient quarter.
Combined with a photo exhibition with the theme "Hoan Kiem District - Historical Images", introducing documentary photos of Hoan Kiem District during the period from the August Revolution in 1945 to the day of taking over the Capital on October 10, 1954.
In February 1947, after 60 days and nights of fierce fighting, the Capital Regiment withdrew from Hanoi with the promise of a victorious return. After 9 years of resistance against the French, the Vietnamese people in general and Hanoi in particular won and liberated the capital. This historical event affirmed the iron determination of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for independence and freedom.
Tran Hung, a student at the University of Education, shared: “My friends and I went to the Phung Hung mural space to visit and take photos. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, this memory space will help all people, domestic and international tourists understand more about Hanoi during the glorious resistance war and the current peacetime.”
Capital Liberation Day is not only a historical event, but also a precious cultural heritage of the nation, reminding us of the tradition of patriotism, solidarity and determination to win of the Vietnamese people.
The exhibition aims to promote one of the great victories of the Vietnamese people. At the same time, it contributes to educating patriotism for the future generations of the country to appreciate the contributions of those who sacrificed and fell for the current independence.
