On the morning of August 23 in Thanh Hoa, the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) held a meeting with the Tourism Associations of provinces and cities to disseminate the task of growing tourists in 2025.
Speaking at the conference, VITA Chairman Vu The Binh emphasized: "The Government has assigned the tourism industry a very important task: In 2025, it must reach 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic visitors (according to Resolution 226/NQ-CP dated August 5, 2025). This task is great but completely feasible if we unite and act quickly and specifically. This is not just a number but a driving force for comprehensive reform, requiring the industry to rise stronger than ever".
The meeting on August 23 is also an opportunity for tourism associations from provinces and cities to participate in exchanging, discussing, and agreeing on action policies to demonstrate the determination to implement the Resolution of the Government, contributing to enhancing the contribution of the tourism industry to the national economy and raising the level of Vietnam tourism.
According to Mr. Vu Quoc Tri, General Secretary of VITA, the Association strives to reach at least 25 million international tourists and 150 million domestic tourists each year; Accelerate the development of the VITA GREEN Green Tourism brand to become an international trading brand.
The Association actively implements the VITA AWARDS Award 2025 Award Consideration Program within the framework of preparing to organize the Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi 2026; Deploying the Project to consider awarding the title " Kitchen Artisan; Bread Artisan; Beverage making Artisan".
At the same time, perfect the organization of the Vietnam Tourism Association according to the provisions of Decree 126/2024/ND-CP dated October 8, 2024 of the Government.
In addition, the Association will also continue to discover, synthesize opinions and proposals, and recommendations to competent state agencies at the central and local levels to resolve difficulties and problems of tourism businesses.

In addition, many opinions and proposals from local associations were also welcomed.
Representing the Da Nang Tourism Association, Mr. Cao Tri Dung proposed implementing a series of tourism promotion and stimulation activities at a national and local scale; building events to promote Vietnam tourism in target markets; calling on localities as gateways to welcome international visitors to proactively build breakthrough products to introduce to markets with the ability to grow quickly in the short term.
Currently, international visitors are still concentrated in some major cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang... Meanwhile, there are many localities, the rate of welcoming international visitors accounts for 5 - 10% of the total number of visitors.
"To attract international visitors, especially high-end visitors, to bring in large revenues from tourism types such as MICE, resorts, sports... provinces and cities need to develop tourism in a sustainable direction, preserve cultural values, heritage, and build green tourism products," said Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Vice President of Hanoi Tourism Association.
According to Mr. Dat, localities need to link to create unique and enhanced products to retain international visitors staying longer, participate in many activities and increase spending in Vietnam

Within the framework of the event, Mr. Phung Quang Thang, Chairman of the Vietnam Green Tourism Association, introduced the program to recognize the VITAGreen Green Tourism label.
Currently, VITA applies this label to 4 areas: tourist destinations, accommodation, travel and food and beverage service businesses serving tourists. In which "destination" will be a popular concept and will be easy to apply after the merger of provinces and cities from 63 to 34 provinces and cities.
Travel businesses, accommodation services, and destinations need to change their awareness and take action to transform green tourism, spread the green tourism movement, and contribute to promoting the development of Vietnam's VITAGreen Green Tourism brand to become an international trading brand.
