On May 23, Kien Giang Tourism Association organized a 2025 activity and launched Phu Quoc Tourism Association.
According to Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy - Permanent Vice President of Kien Giang Tourism Association, in recent times, the Association has made many efforts in gathering, uniting, promoting the role and creativity of each Member to continue building and consolidating the organizational system and operating in the right direction. Organize and promote activities to promote the building of a fair, safe and civilized business environment, especially focusing on building and developing "Green Tourism - Sustainable Tourism".
In 2024, Kien Giang Tourism Association has proactively made efforts to organize many practical activities, actively contributing to the recovery and development of the local tourism industry. However, the Association's activities still face some difficulties such as: lack of financial resources, lack of a specialized apparatus, limited regional connectivity, product quality and human resources need to be improved.
The Association has proposed many synchronous and practical solutions to remove obstacles, promote linkages - cooperation, improve competitiveness, gradually build Kien Giang - especially Phu Quoc - into a safe, civilized, friendly and sustainable destination.
According to Mr. Bui Quoc Thai - Director of Kien Giang Department of Tourism, in the first 5 months of 2025, Kien Giang tourism is expected to welcome over 5.6 million visitors, an increase of 26.9% over the same period, over 780 thousand international visitors, an increase of 77% over the same period; total revenue from tourism is over VND 23,000 billion.
In particular, Phu Quoc continues to affirm its leading position in Kien Giang tourism, as a leading attractive destination in the region with more than 3.5 million visitors, an increase of 30.5% over the same period, over 770 thousand international visitors, an increase of 78.3% over the same period.
In particular, the event of announcing the establishment of Phu Quoc Tourism Association is an important milestone. This will be the core force, representing the common voice of local businesses, contributing to creating a more professional, effective and sustainable tourism environment for Vietnam's " sea and island tourism paradise".
As a state management agency of tourism in the locality, we are committed to accompanying the Kien Giang Tourism Association, as well as the tourism business community inside and outside the province to promote cooperation between localities and tourism businesses, creating the most favorable conditions for units to promote proactiveness and creativity in business activities, contributing to the development of Kien Giang tourism in general, Mr. Thai emphasized.
Regarding the orientation of the Tourism Association's activities, Mr. Bui Quoc Thai proposed to reorganize the An Giang Provincial Tourism Association (new) after the merger to unify the An Giang Provincial Tourism Association, the rest will be organized into Committees and Branches under the Tourism Association not separating from other Associations and professional associations of tourism.
APEC 2027 will be held in Phu Quoc in the near future, so the Association must urgently stabilize the organizational apparatus, actively join hands, and contribute with the tourism industry to organize the reception and service of political prisoners, heads of state as well as tourists from other countries to attend the event combined with sightseeing and experience, to contribute to the overall success of this important event, Mr. Thai added.
At the program, delegates also participated in discussing many issues of tourism development, especially Phu Quoc is heading towards an important event, APEC 2027, this will be an opportunity, a big challenge for Phu Quoc for the Pearl Island to develop further in the coming time.
