The Binh Dinh Coastal Culture - Sports Festival is held every two years, alternating in coastal districts, towns and cities. This is a meaningful event to restore, preserve and promote traditional cultural values of fishermen; at the same time, contribute to propaganda and education to raise public awareness of marine environmental protection, seafood resource protection and maintaining border and island sovereignty.
This year's festival brings together 5 participating groups from Quy Nhon city, Hoai Nhon town and Tuy Phuoc, Phu Cat, Phu My districts.

Within the framework of the program, there are many rich activities including 3 cultural contents: beauty pageant contest; art contest with the theme "Sea, homeland islands"; contest for coastal beauties with traditional costumes, sports, summer, and talent and behavior contest.
In addition, there are 3 attractive sports: Men's boat racing, freestyle swimming and mixed male and female tug of war. In addition, culinary exchanges also contribute to creating a unique feature for the festival, with an introduction of 2 specialties (1 dish and 1 drink) along with a vivid explanation and presentation.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang emphasized that the festival is an opportunity for fishermen from coastal localities to meet, exchange and share experiences in production, update useful fishing knowledge; at the same time, meet the needs of creativity and enjoy the spiritual culture of the people. Thereby contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of fishermen in coastal areas, raising awareness of protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security.
