Many convoys have departed for the North to join hands to support people in areas affected by Typhoon No. 3 Yagi and flash floods and landslides caused by the storm's circulation. Joining forces, many accommodation and food service businesses in the Central region have posted on social networks free accommodation and meals for volunteer convoys going to the North.
Ms. Dai Trang, owner of the Bong Lau restaurant on Le Duan Street, Ha Tinh City, said: "From September 12 to 30, my restaurant will welcome volunteer groups from all over the country every day of the week and provide 100% free food and lodging. Today, my staff and I bought three times more food than usual to prepare to welcome the volunteer groups to the North. In addition, all the staff arrived about 2 hours earlier than usual."
Previously, when following the news about storm No. 3, Ms. Trang really wanted to share the losses of the people in the North. Besides, she was also very moved and grateful for the spirit of mutual love of the Vietnamese people when the community always lends a hand to help each other in times of trouble.
On September 11, Mr. Hoang Quang Trung, owner of the Thuyen Truong homestay and restaurant, also announced free accommodation and meals for volunteer convoys passing through Dong Hoi, Quang Binh.
He is willing to provide rooms with a capacity of 15-20 people and serve free meals for groups of 20-50 people/trip. Up to now, Mr. Trung has received about 20 calls from groups of cars departing from Hue and Da Nang.
"The groups are gathering to move to the North so they announced that they would stop by the shop on the way back," he shared.
When Quang Binh province was hit by storms and floods in 2020, Mr. Trung observed that the volunteer groups from the North who came to provide relief were quite confused about where to eat, drink, use the restroom, and sleep. Therefore, this time he wanted to contribute a little to the volunteer groups and provide relief "so that our people can have delicious meals and warm sleep" during this difficult time.
Many restaurants in Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh..., also announced serving free meals to flood relief teams.
In addition, people in the Central region also continuously sent relief shipments to the North. Hundreds of people in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province contributed instant noodles, drinking water, dry food, medicine, books and 100 sets of clothes.
A trader at Dong Hoi market, Quang Binh province, mobilized local women to make 500 boxes of lemongrass pork floss to quickly send to people in the North.
Previously, many hotels, motels, and homestays in the Northwest also provided free meals and accommodation for people and tourists in areas affected by floods and landslides.
