According to statistics from local authorities, heavy rain caused the foundation of 4 households in Sa Pa to collapse, damaging 1 motorbike and 8 cars.
At the landslide site on National Highway 4D (through O Quy Ho 1 Residential Area), 7 cars were buried by rocks and soil, including 1 16-seat car, 5 cars and 1 truck. The two people, including a foreign tourist and Mr. Nguyen Van Thang (born in 1991), only suffered minor scratches and are now in stable health.
Heavy rain also caused landslides on DH92 and many small points in the alley, with a volume of about 50m3 of rock and soil.



The road to Sa Pa 3 Residential Group was broken 10m, some areas such as Sa Pa 3 Residential Bridge, Phan Si Pang 4 Residential Area, Sa Pa 2 Residential Area and near Sa Pa 1 Residential Area gas station were partially flooded. The People's Committee of Sa Pa Ward has put up warning signs and organized the clearing of the flow.
In addition, National Highway 4D and Provincial Road 152 also recorded many landslides with a volume of rock and soil over 1,000m3. The authorities are coordinating to urgently recede the landslide to ensure traffic. The total damage is estimated at about 1.9 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien - representative of the Cat Cat Tourist Area Management Board - said: "Currently, Cat Cat village has not suffered any damage, but tourism activities and travel of tourists have been affected, due to many landslides".



Mr. Duong Quoc Hieu - a resident of Sa Pa ward, said: "The rain has stopped but the roads have landslides, fortunately there are no human casualties. However, because many tourist attractions are not yet available, visitors to Sa Pa have decreased significantly".
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, functional forces were present at the scene in time to command and encourage people to help overcome the damage.
For landslides, management units have organized repairs to ensure traffic for vehicles and people.


Mr. Pham Tien Dung - Vice Chairman of Sa Pa Ward People's Committee, said that the locality is coordinating with Lao Cai road maintenance company, the construction unit to overcome landslides, rock and soil heights to ensure traffic on the routes passing through the area.
Currently, the force is announcing a ban on people and vehicles moving through landslides on DH 92 to Cat Cat to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.
