Based on Article 21 of Decree 168/2017/ND-CP, there are regulations on 7 types of current tourist accommodation establishments, including the following types.
(1) Hotels: Tourist accommodation establishments that ensure quality in terms of facilities, equipment and services necessary to serve tourists; including: Resort hotels, roadside hotels, floating hotels and city hotels. Specifically:
- Resort hotels: Tourist accommodation establishments built into blocks or complexes of villas, low-rise houses, apartments, in areas with beautiful natural landscapes;
- Hotel on the side of the road: Tourist accommodation establishments near traffic roads, with parking lots to serve the accommodation needs of customers using road vehicles (motorbikes, cars) traveling or resting between long journeys;
- Floating hotels: Tourist accommodation facilities anchored on the water and can be moved when needed;
- City hotels: Tourist accommodation facilities built in urban areas serving tourists.
(2) Tourist villas: Villas with equipment and amenities for tourists to rent and can serve themselves during their stay.
(3) Tourist apartments: Apartments with necessary equipment and services to serve tourists. Guests can serve themselves during their stay.
(4) Tourist accommodation ships: Waterway transport vehicles with bedrooms serving the accommodation needs of tourists.
(5) Tourist guesthouses: Accommodation establishments with necessary equipment and amenities to serve tourists.
(6) Houses with rooms for tourists to rent (homestay): Houses with areas equipped with equipment and amenities for tourists to rent accommodation; guests living with the homeowner's family.
(7) Tourist camping area: The area is planned in a place with beautiful natural landscapes, infrastructure, facilities and services necessary to serve camping guests.
