Hanoi - Hang Ma Street is clear during the Christmas season, traffic congestion is reduced when the authorities rectify the situation of encroachment and sidewalk clearance for pedestrians.

Implementing the pilot plan to build model wards for urban order and civilization, the authorities in Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam and Ba Dinh wards have simultaneously launched a campaign to handle violations of construction order and encroachment on sidewalks on bustling streets such as Hang Ma, Hang Luoc, Hang Cot, Phung Hung... According to Lao Dong's records on November 27, most business households on Hang Ma Street have dismantled the roofs, cleaned sidewalks, and conducted a pilot according to Plan 06 on building model wards of the city.
Mot so mai che, khung sat coi noi ton tai suot nhieu nam tren tuyen pho dang duoc thao do, voi su phoi hop cua nguoi dan va luc luong chuc nang.
Some roofs and iron frames that have existed for many years on the street have been dismantled, with the coordination of people and authorities.
Theo bao cao, phuong Hoan Kiem to chuc thao do 125 mai che, bien quang cao sai phep hoac che khuat via he; bo tri lai 15 diem tap ket rac thanh cac goc “check-in xanh” cho cu dan va du khach.
According to the report, Hoan Kiem ward organized the dismantling of 125 illegal or hidden roofs and advertising signs on sidewalks; rearranged 15 garbage collection points into "green check-in" corners for residents and tourists.
Some traders had to temporarily suspend business to disassemble the roof and reduce goods. However, most businesses have resumed operations, people and tourists still walk around Hang Ma Street to shop for Christmas decorations.
Tren pho Hang Ma, nhieu cua hang da dua do vao trong nha, tra lai su thong thoang cho via he. Doan duong bot un tac, du khach cung thong tha di bo tren via he de ngam nghia, mua sam nhung mon do yeu thich.
On Hang Ma Street, many shops have brought items into the house, returning ventilation to the sidewalk. The road is less congested, visitors can also leisurely walk on the sidewalk to sightsee and shop for their favorite items.
Chi Thanh Hai (Cau Giay, Ha Noi) chia se: “Truoc day den pho Hang Ma, minh da quen voi viec hang hoa bay ban kin via he, du khach phai di bo xuong long duong khien giao thong un tac, dac biet vao nhung ngay cuoi tuan. Ms. Thanh Hai (Cau Giay, Hanoi) shared: Before, when I arrived at Hang Ma Street, I was used to the scene of goods being sold on the sidewalk, having to walk on the road. Traffic is congested, especially on weekends. Although the stalls are more crowded than before, I am still happy because shopping is easier and safer.
Nhieu khach Tay cung dao quanh, mua sam do tren pho Hang Ma.
Many Westerners strolled and shopped on Hang Ma Street.
Sharing with Lao Dong, Ms. Linh, a business owner on Hang Ma Street for nearly 20 years, admitted that the renovation has narrowed the display area. The goods piled up look unattractive, affecting the store's revenue.
Mot tieu thuong khac cho biet, thoi gian thao do, thu don via he khien ho khong the kinh doanh. Tuy nhien, cac ho kinh doanh deu hieu va dong thuan voi chu truong cua dia phuong, tra lai via he cho nguoi di bo.
Another trader said that the time to dismantle and clear sidewalks makes it impossible for households to do business. However, business households all understand and agree with the local policy of returning sidewalks to pedestrians.
Du khong khi tap nap co phan giam di, cac tieu thuong hy vong pho Hang Ma se som dong duc, nhon nhip tro lai khi nguoi dan lam quen voi dien mao moi cua con pho.
Although the bustling atmosphere has decreased somewhat, traders hope that Hang Ma Street will soon be crowded and bustling again when people and tourists get used to the new look of the street.
The pilot project to build a model ward for urban order and civilization will be implemented in 3 phases. Phase 1 focuses on basic investigation, propaganda, and order arrangement from November 15, 2025 to November 30, 2025. Phase 2, general inspection, handling, and clearance of violations from November 30, 2025 to December 31, 2025. Phase 3 maintains inspection, prevention and control of violations from January 1, 2026 to February 15, 2026. With a systematic plan, Hanoi hopes to bring positive results, contributing to building a more airy, civilized and convenient neighborhood for people and tourists.
