On August 9, Son Tra Ward People's Committee (Da Nang City) issued an official dispatch on strengthening management, inspection, and rectification of signs and billboards that violate regulations in the area.
Son Tra Ward People's Committee requests all organizations, individuals, and production and business establishments to strictly comply with the regulations that signs must be displayed in Vietnamese. In case of using both Vietnamese and foreign languages, the foreign font size must absolutely not exceed 3/4 of the Vietnamese font size and must be placed below the Vietnamese font according to Article 18 of the 2012 Advertising Law. Establishments that violate regulations on size and place of hanging must urgently dismantle, repair or replace them themselves.
Local authorities will establish an inter-sectoral inspection team to conduct inspections, make records and advise on strict handling of cases of intentional non-compliance or recurrence. Sanctions are based on the provisions of the Decree on sanctioning administrative violations in the field of culture and advertising. Direct propaganda and reminders will be concentrated at peak times on routes with high tourist traffic.
Son Tra Ward People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture and Social Affairs to be the focal point to urge the inspection campaign, summarize the situation, and the results of handling violations to advise and report to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism according to regulations.
At the same time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward, mass organizations and residential groups are responsible for integrating propaganda in people's meetings, mobilizing business households to voluntarily implement and promptly detect and report violations to the Ward People's Committee for handling according to their authority.
