The event is directed by the Da Nang City People's Committee, chaired by the Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and co-organized by the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center. This is an activity to celebrate the 81st anniversary of National Day September 2, and is also one of the key tasks to implement Hoi An Creative Heritage City in the field of handicrafts and folk art in the period 2026 - 2027, with orientation to 2030.
The opening ceremony will take place at 7:30 PM on August 28th at Song Hoai Square. The program will introduce typical artisans, artists, creative communities; announce the Map of Hoi An art and creative spaces and an art program honoring craft villages, folk art and heritage values of Hoi An.
During the six days of the event, many activities will be held at Song Hoai Square, An Hoi Sculpture Garden, the Old Quarter, museums, craft villages and creative spaces. Prominent are the series of seminars "The whole village's art", the training program "The craft village goes digital", experiential spaces "Touching tradition", "Touching creativity", handicraft workshops, exhibitions, folk games and activities to explore heritage using GPS technology, QR codes, artificial intelligence.
Through these activities, the organizers aim to connect heritage with design, technology, education and the market; support artisans and creative communities to improve their capacity to promote and develop products and expand market access opportunities.
According to the organizers, Hoi An Creative Week 2026 contributes to implementing the key tasks of the Creative Heritage City, including communication, human resource development, product development, expanding cultural exchange, forming a network of creative spaces and promoting digital transformation in preserving and promoting heritage values.
The event also expands the participation of artisans, artists, schools, businesses, social organizations and local communities, towards building Hoi An into an open creative space, where heritage continues to be preserved, adapted and create new values to serve sustainable cultural and tourism development.
