On June 27, APC Corporation sent information to the press, announcing that from April 2025, there will be a new, unique tourism product that will turn a cave in Vung Duc, Cam Pha City into a restaurant combined with a theater.
This will be the first time in Quang Ninh that concerts have been held in a cave hundreds of millions of years old.
However, public opinion expressed concern about the impact of major activities on the cave. The leader of Cam Pha City also said that he had not licensed this activity.
There are currently debates about organizing tourism products in this cave.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Thu Huong - Director of Vung Duc Cave Tourist Area, public opinion may think that this cave is located in the middle of the sea and is related to Ha Long Bay, but Vung Duc cave is located along the shore of Bai Tu Long Bay, at the end of the Ha Long - Cam Pha coastal road.
Moreover, this cave area has been exploited for tourism since 1999 and has ticket sales.
According to the license, we are allowed to exploit tourism, commercial, cultural services... For many years, we have not only welcomed visitors but also organized many events, including weddings, including the wedding of Vietnamese grooms and American brides in 2024 - Ms. Huong said.
"Recently, we have also coordinated to organize a double-decker bus tour, bringing tourists from Bai Chay to Vung Duc. It takes more unique products to attract tourists back, he added.
According to a representative of APC Corporation, with the desire to create more unique tourism products, the company hopes to cooperate with the management unit of Vung Duc Cave Tourist Area to turn this place into a unique theater, hundreds of millions of years old.
Currently, the unit only filmed and took photos of the demo performance of famous conductor Dong Quang Vinh and the orchestra for promotion, not organizing a fee-based performance.
Because, if it is a performance and collecting money, the unit must apply for a license from the authorities.
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Lam Nguyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province - said that Vung Duc cave tourist area has been recognized by the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province as a tourist destination.
Therefore, tourism activities are allowed here. If related to the field of food and beverage, it is necessary to comply with regulations on food safety and hygiene, environment, fire prevention and fighting. In case of organizing performances of cultural and artistic activities, permission must be obtained from relevant authorities.
"There is currently a double-decker bus route running from Bai Chay to Vung Duc. Visitors can see Ha Long Bay, see the most beautiful coastal road in the country - Ha Long - Cam Pha road before visiting Vung Duc cave and enjoying dishes and listening to music" - Mr. Nguyen said.
Vung Duc Cave consists of a system of 5 caves connected together, including Thien Dang Cave, Long Van Cave, Ngo Nghe Cave, Kim Quy Cave and most widely Cung Dinh Cave (also known as Doi Cave) - the place expected to become a theater.
