On the afternoon of August 17, in Dong Hoi ward (Quang Tri province), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province organized a Conference to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on comprehensive cooperation in developing the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector for the period 2026-2030.
According to the signed content, the two localities will coordinate to organize cultural and sports exchange activities, promote the characteristics of each province. At the same time, exchange experiences in preserving tangible and intangible cultural heritage and participate in cultural activities organized by the two localities.
In the field of tourism, the focus is on building unique products, connecting destinations and forming a number of key inter-provincial tourist routes.
Businesses in the two localities are encouraged to link up to build tours, connect routes and tourist attractions to create attractive programs, limit duplication and increase complementarity between the two markets.
A noteworthy point is that the two sides will coordinate to organize survey programs for the press (Presstrip), travel businesses (Famtrip), conferences, seminars, fairs, exhibitions and joint promotional events. Activities are oriented to focus on types such as ecotourism, community tourism and agricultural tourism.
The two provinces also agreed to strengthen information exchange on investment attraction policies, planning, tourism promotion and development plans; connect electronic information pages to promote tourism, share information about markets and new products.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan - Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee emphasized that cooperation will help the two localities promote their advantages, form complementary cultural, sports, and tourism products. The operation of the Dong Hoi - Cam Ranh air route from August 16, 2026 opens up more opportunities for connecting tourism, trade, investment and exchange.
Quang Tri expects the two provinces to strengthen joint promotion, build linked tours and routes, exchange tourists, train human resources and digital transformation, towards practical cooperation results in the 2026-2030 period.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa, after implementing the arrangement of administrative units, Khanh Hoa has a large development space with a 490km long coastline, nearly 200 islands and many bays and a unique cultural heritage system. This is the foundation for the locality to develop diverse sea and island tourism products, resorts, ecology, community, culture - history and experiences.
The combination of the historical, cultural, and spiritual tourism strengths of Quang Tri with sea and island tourism, resorts and services of Khanh Hoa can create new journeys, contributing to improving the competitiveness of tourism in the Central region.
Mr. Nguyen Long Bien - Standing Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the signing is only the beginning. The important thing is to put the agreed contents into practice, creating specific products, activities and values for people, businesses and tourists.
Standing Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested the two localities to quickly concretize the cooperation program into an annual implementation plan, clearly identify the content, progress, lead unit, coordinating unit and results to be achieved; and at the same time maintain periodic inspection, evaluation and preliminary review to ensure substantive cooperation.
