The Mong ethnic culture festival will be a boost for Dien Bien tourism

Dien Bien - This year's Mong ethnic cultural festival, the locality will welcome delegates and tourists from 11 provinces to reunite.

The 4th Mong Ethnic Culture Festival is expected to take place from October 9-11, 2026 in Dien Bien, gathering 11 provinces with a large number of Mong ethnic people living there.

The event is not only an opportunity to honor and preserve traditional cultural values but is also expected to create new momentum for Dien Bien tourism.

The festival is chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with Dien Bien province, organized for 3 days.

This is a national cultural activity, with the participation of localities including Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Son La, Cao Bang, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Dak Lak.

According to the plan, many cultural, sports and tourism activities will take place within the framework of the Festival such as Incense Offering Ceremony, Opening Ceremony; folk games; displays, cultural and culinary experiences; tourism promotion activities; Street Carnival; Mong Khèn art performance with the theme "Solidarity Dance" and Closing Ceremony.

On August 17, in an exchange with reporters, Mr. Tran Hai Ha - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province - said that preparations are being urgently implemented by the locality.

The province has coordinated with the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups to complete the draft organization plan, and at the same time assign tasks to specialized units.

The contents undertaken by Dien Bien such as the Incense Offering Ceremony, opening ceremony, Street Carnival, Mong Khèn art performance and traditional culinary experience space are gradually being completed.

Along with the program content, the locality reviews the facilities at the venues, prepares display spaces, cultural and sports experience areas and folk games.

Conditions on electricity, water, sound, lighting, traffic, health, security and order, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation and food safety are also calculated.

According to Mr. Tran Hai Ha, the reception and accommodation arrangement for delegates, guests and participating delegations are particularly focused on. Accommodation establishments and restaurants are reviewed, required to list and sell at the right prices, improve service quality and implement tourism civilization.

The Organizing Committee also plans to make a list to introduce reputable accommodation establishments, restaurants and tourist destinations so that delegations can proactively choose services during the Festival.

Not just a cultural event, the 4th Mong Ethnic Culture Festival is expected to become a "push" for Dien Bien tourism in 2026.

One of the highlights is the sightseeing and experiential activities at the Mong ethnic cultural tourism village in Long village, Quai To commune.

Here, delegates and tourists have the opportunity to directly experience community tourism products, learn about cultural life and enjoy typical OCOP products of the locality.

Dien Bien also orients the implementation of stimulus programs, promotions and linkage to develop tourism products to serve delegates, people and tourists during the event.

With a national scale, the Festival is expected to create a space for exchange and connection between localities with a large number of Mong people, and at the same time expand opportunities to promote Dien Bien culture, people and tourism potential to domestic and international tourists.

Bringing traditional cultural values into experiential activities and tourism products is considered an important direction, both contributing to preserving national identity and creating more livelihoods and motivation for economic and tourism development for the locality.
