On May 23, Con Dao National Park (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) announced that it had just welcomed a mother turtle of Philippine nationality to successfully lay eggs.
Previously, on the evening of May 22, a mother turtle of the green turtle (also known as a turtle) went to the sandbank at Bai Cat Lon - Hon Bay Canh to lay eggs. During the rescue, Con Dao National Park staff discovered the left front limb of the mother turtle with a license plate with the symbol PH6854.
This is a symbol for sea turtle management and monitoring in the Philippines. It is known that the distance from the Philippine sea to Con Dao is about 1,700 km.

During the night, mother turtles measuring 93cm x 84cm laid 84 eggs; and were given an additional Vietnam tracking card by Con Dao National Park with the code CD4699 to continue monitoring the turtle's movement.
Previously, at the end of April 2024, this area also welcomed a mother turtle with a Malaysia tracking card to breed about 100 eggs.
Every year, Con Dao National Park welcomes more than 2,000 mother turtles to lay eggs. This is the result of the efforts in nature conservation and sea turtle conservation for many consecutive years of Con Dao National Park.
