In late September and early October, the impact of storms and floods caused many routes leading to Lao Cai's tourist attractions to collapse.
At Sa Pa National Tourist Area, dozens of large and small landslides have been leveled and cleared.
Local authorities and tourism businesses are making efforts to clean up, repair infrastructure, restore landscape and stabilize reception activities.
Up to now, tourism activities have returned to normal.

On October 12, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien - representative of the Cat Cat Tourist Area Management Board - said: "During the rainy and flood days, tourism activities and travel of tourists were affected, due to many landslides. But at this point, after the restaurant was temporarily opened, the unit has welcomed guests again".
According to Mr. Kien, due to the impact of storms and floods, the number of tourists coming to Cat Cat and Sa Pa villages has decreased significantly, especially Vietnamese and Western tourists, with only a few hundred visitors per day. However, in return, the units currently welcoming are mainly Asian tourists such as India, the Philippines, Korea...
We are focusing on developing sustainable tourism, so the core cultures of the HMong people are highly valued. Along with that is building a landscape in accordance with the customs of the local people. At the same time, the local government is very interested in and directs the development and construction of tourism culture, Mr. Kien added.

Mr. Duong Quoc Hieu - the owner of a coffee shop in Sa Pa also said that Sa Pa's tourism activities are currently taking place normally. However, the number of Vietnamese visitors is also somewhat less crowded because many places have floods.
According to statistics from the Lao Cai tourism industry, in September, the total number of tourists to Sa Pa is estimated at more than 329 thousand (recovering more than 1,500 billion VND), accumulated in the first 9 months of the year reaching more than 3.5 million (recovering more than 15,000 billion VND).
