According to Phu Quoc International Airport, from December 27th to the 3rd day of Tet (lunar calendar), the Airport served 502 flights with more than 166,000 passengers, of which international passengers accounted for 60%. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City routes maintained high frequency, while the international market continued to grow strongly, affirming Phu Quoc's increasingly clear international gateway role.
On February 18, 2026 (the 2nd day of Tet), the airport welcomed a total of 93 inbound flights, including 47 domestic and 46 international flights - one of the days with the highest operating volume in history. The total number of passengers per day reached nearly 31,000.
It is noteworthy that amidst the pressure of increased output, operation is still organized proactively and strictly controlled.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Quan - Director of Phu Quoc International Airport, Sun Group Joint Stock Company, Sun Group said: "We determined from the beginning that production growth must go hand in hand with operational control. The transfer does not interrupt operations, on the contrary, it is an opportunity for us to approach more proactively, standardize processes and improve operational capacity.

To effectively serve the peak Tet Nguyen Dan 2026, the Port has developed an exploitation plan in a synchronous and flexible direction. Personnel, vehicles and equipment have been strengthened; the entire infrastructure and operating procedures have been reviewed to adjust to suit the actual traffic volume.
In areas prone to congestion such as check-in counters, security screening areas and luggage conveyor belts, the process is reorganized in the direction of clear traffic diversion, arranging increased personnel according to each peak hour. Thanks to that, although traffic volume increases, waiting times are still controlled.
Mr. Quan informed: "We have proactively identified growth trends early and built corresponding exploitation scenarios. Therefore, despite strong output growth, the Port always maintains a high readiness state.
In parallel with operations, the Port promotes the application of technology to improve passenger experience. Wifi system is supplemented and expanded, 4G/5G signal is enhanced, flight information display screens are upgraded; check-in counters and luggage conveyors are optimized for connection.
From January 1, 2026, the non-stop automatic toll collection method at the airport entrance and exit area will be applied, contributing to reducing congestion and improving vehicle regulation efficiency.
Ms. Kim Ji Won, a tourist from Korea, said: "The airport is very crowded but check-in is quick, you don't have to wait long, everything is clean and organized very well. There is also beautiful Tet decoration here, and friendly staff, so it feels very comfortable.
In the context of high passenger demand, the key factor is the synchronous coordination between forces operating at the Port.
Right from the peak preparation stage, the parties met to agree on an exploitation plan with the Airport Authority in Phu Quoc, Phu Quoc International Customs, Border Gate Police (A08), International Health Quarantine, Air Traffic Control and airlines. The smooth coordination between units is an important foundation to ensure security, safety and service quality in the context of increased output. This is not just an effort of one unit, but the synchronization of the entire system.
Maintaining stable operation amidst peak pressure is considered an important foundation for Phu Quoc International Airport to be ready for a higher task, which is to serve APEC 2027.
According to the An Giang Department of Tourism, from February 14 - 22, 2026 (from December 27th to the 6th day of Tet), An Giang is estimated to welcome more than 1.7 million visitors (an increase of more than 37% compared to the same period), more than 98,000 international visitors; room occupancy rate averages more than 78%. Phu Quoc special zone alone is estimated to welcome nearly 366,000 visitors, and nearly 93,000 international visitors. Total tourism revenue of the whole province is estimated to reach more than 2,600 billion VND.
