Da Nang - Students of Duy Tan University in Da Nang brought 23 fashion designs from mo cau to the catwalk at the Loc Yen Ancient Village Festival 2026.

On August 31, Duy Tan University, Da Nang City said that within the framework of the Loc Yen Ancient Village Festival 2026, 23 ecological fashion designs made from areca nuts by Duy Tan University students brought an impressive performance space to visitors.

The event is within the framework of "Mo cau Creativity Day & Connecting Loc Yen - Thanh Binh Tourism Development", organized by Thanh Binh Commune People's Committee, Vietnam Handicrafts Export Association (VIETCRAFT) in coordination with Duy Tan University (DTU) to stimulate local heritage tourism.

Without brilliant LED lights or modern catwalks, the winding path between the golden rice fields of Loc Yen ancient village has become an impromptu performance stage. The event attracted a large number of local people and tourists from all over to watch.

The highlight of the program is a series of 5 eco-fashion collections including Everyday, Urban, Resort, Cocktail and Avant-garde. From rustic mo cau material, the "young designers" cleverly transformed it into corset belts, plaid pieces, 3D floral motifs to unique architectural blocks with the breath of the times.

Opening the program, the charm of local women in ao ba ba, ao dai costumes combined with mo cau accessories created a harmonious indigenous cultural piece with the liberality and breakthrough of the student models.

Besides the aesthetic value, all 23 designs appearing at the event are products from the CDIO subject project (FSH496) of fashion design students, Duy Tan University. The program received companionship and support for moving costumes from the Biti's brand.

The program aims to help students master practical ecological material processing techniques, improve professional show performance operation capacity and train professional bravery right from when they are still in school.

The event is expected to open a new direction for sustainable fashion, while effectively integrating the preservation of folk materials with the development of ecotourism in Loc Yen heritage space.
