On September 2nd, at Ban Nguyet Lake, Pho Hien ward, Hung Yen province, the 2026 expanded Pho Hien ward boat racing tournament took place, attracting a large number of people and tourists to watch and cheer.
The tournament is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2nd, with the participation of 120 athletes, divided into 10 teams, competing in two events: men's and women's boat racing.
The teams come from Pho Hien ward, Hong Chau ward, Son Nam ward, Hung Yen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company and Le Hong Phong residential group. Each boat has 12 athletes, competing at a distance of 800m, equivalent to one round of Ban Nguyet Lake.
The teams are divided into pairs to compete, selecting teams with good results to enter the final round to compete for first and second prizes. On the race track, the rowing boats simultaneously split the water amidst the drums urging and the enthusiastic cheers of the audience, creating a lively and tense atmosphere.
At the end of the tournament, the Son Nam ward team won first prize in both men's and women's boat racing events. Second prize in the men's event belonged to the Hung Yen Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company team; second prize in the women's event belonged to the Le Hong Phong residential group team.
The boat racing race is an annual activity organized by Pho Hien ward on the occasion of National Day September 2nd, contributing to creating a joyful atmosphere, promoting the spirit of solidarity, community cohesion and attracting people and tourists to participate in cultural and sports activities in the locality.
