On January 1, 2025, in front of Ngo Mon Gate, in the bustling atmosphere of welcoming the New Year, Hue City People's Committee organized the Program to announce the National Tourism Year & Hue Festival 2025, and re-enacted the Lunar New Year's Court Ceremony.
Accordingly, the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 is a typical cultural - economic - social and tourism event of national and international scale, combined with Hue Festival 2025. This event is associated with the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Thua Thien Hue (ie Hue City from January 1, 2025) (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and responds to and welcomes Hue to become a city directly under the Central Government.
Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, said that the activities organized within the framework of the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 will focus on four main groups of programs: Spring Festival "Ancient Capital Spring"; Summer Festival "Shining Imperial City"; Autumn Festival "Hue in Autumn"; Winter Festival "Hue Winter," with more than 170 national and provincial events.
Of which, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and central agencies will organize 8 national-level activities; Hue City will host 62 activities (including 46 activities under the National Tourism Year program and 16 activities within the framework of Hue Festival 2025); provinces and centrally-run cities will organize 102 activities in response to National Tourism Year - Hue 2025.
The organization of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 is expected to be an important boost to help the socio-economy in general and Hue city tourism in particular flourish, creating conditions to attract investment resources for development, building new and attractive products, contributing to creating momentum for the socio-economic development of Hue city in 2025 and the following years.
On the same morning, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center staged the Lunar New Year's Court Ceremony in front of Thai Hoa Palace, witnessed by a large number of locals and tourists.
According to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, Nguyen Dan is a court ritual of the Nguyen Dynasty, held on the first day of Tet with the Grand Court ceremony at Thai Hoa Palace and the Regular Court ceremony at Can Chanh Palace.
First are the Grand Court ceremonies at the Grand Courtyard and the Thai Hoa Palace. The King will travel from the Can Chanh Palace, go to the Dai Cung Mon Gate and go up to the Thai Hoa Palace to personally witness the ceremony. During the ceremony, the mandarins will present congratulatory messages to the King. The King will then bestow his grace on the occasion of the Lunar New Year with solemn ceremonies, accompanied by Grand Music and Small Music performances.
After that, the king will leave Thai Hoa Palace and return to Can Chanh Palace to continue the New Year ceremonies. Here, the younger royal brothers and princes, the dukes and princes will bow and congratulate the king. Next will be the king's proclamation of the banquet and spring festival. Finally, the banquets given by the king will take place at Can Chanh Palace, Ta Vu, Huu Vu, Ta Dai Lau Vien and Huu Dai Lau Vien.
