Festivals throughout the year
On January 1, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center announced that in 2025, Hue will be honored to host the National Tourism Year, combined with the Hue Festival 2025, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the province's Liberation Day (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and welcoming Hue to become a centrally-governed city.
This is a golden opportunity to promote tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products of Hue in particular and Vietnam in general.
The event not only attracts domestic and international tourists but also contributes to creating a breakthrough for the tourism industry, promoting socio-economic development and affirming Hue's position on the global tourism map.
Accordingly, the theme of National Tourism Year - Hue 2025: "Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities"; the theme of Hue Festival 2025: "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development".
Time of organization: National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 will be organized with continuous activities, lasting throughout the year, starting with the Hue Festival 2025 Announcement Program and the re-enactment of the Lunar New Year's Ceremony on January 1, 2025 and ending with the Countdown Art Program - Welcoming the New Year 2026 on December 31, 2025.
Accordingly, the Spring Festival "Ancient Capital Spring" lasts for 3 months (January - March) at the beginning of the year with a series of royal festivals, traditional festivals, unique Tet cultural spaces and spring entertainment activities bearing the imprint of the ancient Hue Capital. The Spring highlights are: The First Ancient Capital Martial Arts Festival, the Art Program to Open the National Tourism Year and Activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue and the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee.
The Summer Festival “Shining Capital” lasts from April to June with the highlight being the Ao Dai Festival and the Community Ao Dai Week.
The Autumn Festival “Hue in Autumn” lasts from July to September with the highlight being the Mid-Autumn Festival program, including activities: Hue International Lantern Festival 2025; Lion - Lion - Dragon Festival, Hue Lion Performance and Mid-Autumn Street Lantern Procession.
The Winter Festival "Hue Winter" (October - December) will organize a number of new activities and festivals to create a more vibrant and warmer winter atmosphere in Hue, while also creating forms of entertainment for visitors to enjoy during their stay in the ancient capital of Hue, with the highlights being the Closing Ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 and the International Music Festival; Countdown Art Program - Welcoming the New Year 2026.
More than 170 events
Activities organized within the framework of the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 will focus on 4 main program groups including: Spring Festival "Spring of the Ancient Capital"; Summer Festival "Shining Imperial City"; Autumn Festival "Hue in Autumn" and Winter Festival "Hue Winter" with more than 170 national and provincial events.
Of which, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and central agencies organized 8 national-level activities; Thua Thien Hue province hosted 62 activities (including 46 activities of the National Tourism Year program and 16 activities within the framework of Hue Festival 2025); provinces and centrally-run cities organized 102 activities in response to National Tourism Year - Hue 2025.
Among the above activities, there will be 4 key activities including the Opening Ceremony of "National Tourism Year - Hue 2025" combined with the Fireworks Art Program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Thua Thien Hue province taking place on the evening of March 25, 2025; International Conference on Cultural Industries - the foundation for sustainable tourism development on March 25, 2025; Cultural - Tourism Festival and Program to introduce tourism, cuisine, Vietnamese craft villages, connecting businesses on the occasion of National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 in the European market scheduled for June 2025 and the Closing Ceremony of "National Tourism Year - Hue 2025" at the end of December 2025.
In addition, there are also key activities such as Promoting the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 at the World Exhibition EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan with the theme "Inclusive society with people at the center" from April 25 to May 6, 2025; a series of activities including: Communication, promoting domestic and foreign tourism; International Food Festival; Chef Competition, International Conference on Net Zero Tourism scheduled to take place in July - August 2025.
