In mid-June, the world-famous travel guide Lonely Planet announced the top 24 most beautiful train journeys in the world that visitors should experience in 2025.
This list of railway lines takes tourists through lands with unique landscapes from the countryside to the city, connecting the most beautiful cities of each country. According to Lonely planet, these most beautiful trains in the world will show you a destination through many new and unique perspectives.
Topping the top 24 most beautiful train journeys in 2025 is the Thong Nhat train of Vietnam. The train departs from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi (or vice versa) with a length of 1,726 km and lasts more than 30 hours.
"This is one of the most popular train routes in Southeast Asia, and at the same time the most impressive overnight train experience in the world. Taking the North-South train is the most enjoyable way to explore the two largest cities in Vietnam, experience the feeling of ships shaking through historical cities, and transit through enchanting beautiful beaches," commented an editor of Lonely Planet handbook.
In the list of 24 most beautiful train routes in 2025, Southeast Asia only has the Bangkok - Malaysia - Singapore (Thailand - Singapore) route with a length of 1,900 km.
