The Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 holiday lasting nearly 9 days is creating favorable conditions for people to both reunite with their families and arrange trips and vacations.
Search data released by Booking.com shows that travel demand during Tet this year continues to increase, with a trend of flexibly choosing destinations according to each period before, during and after Tet.
Mr. Branavan Aruljothi, Country Director of Booking.com in Vietnam, shared: "Tet 2026 reflects a clear diversity in tourist travel behavior, from the trend of traveling early to avoid peak season to short international journeys.
Whether the demand is to find cool climates like Da Lat or the interest for international destinations like India and Japan, it can be seen that Vietnamese tourists are becoming more proactive and intentional in enjoying their holidays. With the 9-day holiday this year, tourists prioritize meaningful experiences, suitable for personal preferences, to maximize this special time.
In the period before Tet, Vietnamese tourists mainly search for domestic destinations, especially localities with complete tourism infrastructure and convenient travel. Phu Quoc leads the search list, up three places compared to the same period last year. Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat continue to be in the top 10 destinations of great interest.

In addition to the top group, Con Dao recorded a remarkable growth rate, increasing 6 places, ranking 16th. Stable weather at the beginning of the year and quiet space are considered factors that make this destination more chosen in the period near Tet.
On the international side, destinations in Asia continue to dominate. Thailand is the most searched country, with four cities in the top 10. Notably, New Delhi (India) recorded a search growth rate of more than 500%, an increase of 68 places compared to the same period, showing the increasing interest of Vietnamese tourists in cultural and spiritual journeys.
During the Tet peak season, the search volume of Vietnamese tourists increases significantly. Destinations with cool climates or suitable for family vacation are prioritized.
Data shows that Da Lat has risen to become the most searched domestic destination during Tet, followed by Phu Quoc and Nha Trang. Phan Thiet and Sa Pa recorded a search growth rate 5 times higher than the previous year, ranking in the top 10 most interested destinations.

For tourists with foreign travel needs, besides familiar destinations in Southeast Asia, the trend of expanding to further markets is increasingly clear. Japan has become a prominent destination during Tet 2026. In addition to Tokyo, cities such as Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka also attract significant attention from Vietnamese tourists.
Long vacations help tourists have more choices in journey design, prioritizing experiences suitable for personal needs and the time of each family.
After the Tet holiday, the trend of tourism gradually shifts to quieter trips, focusing on cultural and spiritual experiences. Domestically, Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City continue to be the destinations that are most sought after. In addition, Hanoi, Da Lat, Nha Trang and Vung Tau record increased interest thanks to the early-year festivals.
Notably, Tien Xuan - a locality associated with the Tay Phuong Pagoda Festival - increased 412 places, to 24th position in the search rankings, showing that the demand for tourism associated with traditional festivals still maintains its appeal after Tet.

In the international market, in addition to familiar destinations such as Bangkok, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, Vietnamese tourists are starting to pay more attention to major cities such as Osaka, Paris, Chiang Mai and Sydney. The series of destinations reflect the trend of seeking diverse cultural experiences in early year travel.
