Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Vietluxtour Company said that MICE tourism in Ho Chi Minh City is entering a potential phase, with clear advantages in infrastructure, international brand and a methodical MICE tourism development strategy.

In particular, the trend of conferences combining work and heritage discovery is booming. Large corporations are also increasingly prioritizing tourism products associated with sustainable development (ESG) factors, in line with the corporate's social responsibility commitment.

With advantages in infrastructure and the role of economic center, Ho Chi Minh City has many conditions to develop large-scale MICE tourism. Strengthening regional linkages and diversifying products will help the city gradually shift from a transit point to a complete experience destination for international tourists and businesses.

Notably, Ho Chi Minh City has just welcomed an international delegation of 890 members from Indonesia, the journey lasts until May 9.

This is one of the large-scale international MICE delegations to the city after Resolution 62/2025/NQ-HĐND was issued, showing the initial effectiveness of the policy to support attracting delegations to attend conferences, seminars, and exhibitions combined with tourism visits.

At the same time, affirming the professional organization and service capacity of the city's tourism ecosystem for these international tourist flows.

This recovery is the result of efforts to improve the tourism environment and position Ho Chi Minh City's brand on the MICE tourism map. At the same time, this is also a signal showing the increasing attractiveness of the city to conference and experience-combined visitors.

Focus promotion, specialized products

Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that the city's MICE tourism development roadmap to 2030 is built around 4 key pillars.

Specifically, in terms of key promotion, Ho Chi Minh City focuses on high-spending markets such as Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe through international MICE fairs and forums. Regarding products, the city orients to support businesses to build comprehensive service packages "stay - conference - visit - shopping", optimized according to the needs of each market.

In addition, the pillar of digital transformation and human resources emphasizes standardizing service processes, applying technology in customer management and event organization to improve international competitiveness. Finally, developing a synchronous ecosystem, strengthening links between travel agencies, hotels, convention centers and transportation units to form a complete service supply chain.

In the first quarter of 2026, Ho Chi Minh City tourism recorded about 3.9 million international visitors and 15.4 million domestic visitors, total revenue reached about 150,000 billion VND. This result continues to affirm the attractiveness of the destination, in which MICE tourism is considered one of the important growth drivers.

With a solid foundation from the first quarter of 2026 and a clear strategic orientation, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry expects to continue to break through, develop sustainably and integrate more deeply in the future.

Ho Chi Minh City has been honored by the World MICE Awards as the Best MICE Destination in Asia for 5 consecutive years (2020 - 2024). Thereby, affirming the city's position and competitiveness on the regional MICE tourism map.
