On July 8, a paragliding accident occurred on Son Tra peninsula, killing a male tourist.

According to information from the Da Nang Border Guard Command, at around 5:30 p.m. on July 8, male tourist H.Q.T (36 years old, residing in Tan Phu, Ho Chi Minh City) had an accident while participating in a paragliding experience on Son Tra peninsula provided by Tropical Forest Company (Son Tra ward, Da Nang city).
The piloted pilot was identified as Mr. L.M.P (41 years old, from Tropical Forest Company).

At the time of the accident, Mr. P was paragliding carrying Mr. T from Son Tra mountain to the landing gear when the incident occurred. Mr. T fell into the forest.
Immediately afterwards, the tour guide reported to the company and asked the forces participating in the rescue including: fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue police, Son Tra ward police, Son Tra ward militia, Son Tra peninsula management board and Da Nang tourist beaches, Son Tra border post.
When searching, the authorities discovered Mr. P falling on the sand. Mr. P was taken to the emergency room in critical condition.
At 7:30 p.m. on July 8, the authorities found the victim dead in the area near the East Sea resort on Son Tra peninsula.
Customers who buy insurance, sign for exemption from liability
On the afternoon of July 9, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City issued an official announcement related to the paraglider accident on Son Tra peninsula.
The Department representative said that immediately after receiving information about the accident, officers were dispatched to the scene to coordinate with relevant authorities to verify and handle the incident.
The report confirmed that the victim had contacted and booked an unpowered paragliding experience flight service on Son Tra peninsula operated by Tropical Forest Trading and Service Company Limited.
This is one of the units licensed by the city to operate a paragliding service on Son Tra peninsula.
Before participating in the service, Tropical Forest Company and tourists had fully completed all procedures and processes before flying on Son Tra peninsula, including procedures for declaring information at checkpoints, purchasing accident insurance, signing a commitment to exempt from liability.
The cause of the incident is being investigated by the authorities.
Currently, Da Nang has licensed 5 companies operating in the business of unmanned paragliding services, including: Central Paragliding Tourism Company Limited; Da Nang Bay Company Limited; Da Nang Paragliding Joint Stock Company; Tam Phat Travel Company Limited; Tropical Forest Trading & Service Company Limited.
To be licensed to operate, these 5 units must meet safety measures as prescribed in Article 9, Decree No. 168 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Tourism for business activities of unpowered paragliding services at the Paragliding Depot - Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang City.
