The light show using 10,500 drones will officially take place from 8:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on May 1, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
However, due to a change in plan, on the evening of April 30, the organizing committee organized a test flight of 10,500 drones after the fireworks display.
The event was held on the Saigon River, stretching along the two banks of District 1 and Thu Duc City. The Organizing Committee prepared a dossier to propose setting a Vietnamese record for the largest number of drones flying at the same time ever.
The program is part of a series of events of the " Colors of Uncle Ho City" Festival, taking place in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
According to information from the organizing committee, the performance on the evening of May 1 will not have commercial promotion content, because the rights for the accompanying unit were performed during the drone performance rehearsal on the evening of April 28.
The entire performance uses drone movements to recreate iconic images of national history such as: tanks entering the Independence Palace, flying liberation flags and President Ho Chi Minh's image. This will be an impressive combination of modern performance technology and the sacred historical spirit.
People and tourists can fully admire this performance from high-rise locations along the Saigon River, including Sheraton Saigon Hotel, The Reverie Saigon, Le Meridien Saigon and Hotel Majestic Saigon.
In addition, some bars and restaurants with a beautiful view in District 1 suggest such as Rooftop Grand Lounge on the 20th floor of Grand Hotel Saigon (Dong Khoi, District 1); Bar Bleu on the rooftop of The Myst Dong Khoi Hotel (Ho Huan Nghiep, District 1); Propeller Rooftop restaurant & bar (Ngo Van Nam, District 1); Saigon Rooftop Bar (Lam Son Park, District 1); Waterbiz Coffee is located right next to Bach Dang Wharf (Ton Duc Thang, District 1)...
The program can change the performance schedule, postpone or adjust the content according to actual weather conditions or decisions from the Organizing Committee to ensure flight safety for equipment and people. Therefore, visitors should follow official updates from the government or event media channel before the event takes place.
In case of showers, thunderstorms or strong winds - as the weather forecast for the Southern region on May 1, the program may be temporarily postponed or adjusted. Tourists and residents should prepare raincoats, even... when watching events.
