On July 5, the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City announced that the city has just had two more national intangible cultural heritages including: the New Rice Celebration Festival of the Co Tu people and Traditional knowledge about Bun bo Hue.
According to the decision dated June 27 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, "Bhuo Haro Thom - New Rice Celebration Festival of the Co Tu people" (in Nam Dong, Long Quang, Khe Tre communes) was recognized as a national intangible heritage in the form of traditional festivals, social customs and beliefs.
The festival is imbued with the cultural and agricultural nuances, expressing gratitude to the god - especially the rice god Giang Haro - for giving us a bumper harvest season. This event is also an opportunity for the Co Tu community to gather and connect through rituals, giving gifts, drum gong dances, cuisine and decorating the iconic Xonur victim column.
On the same day, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to include "Folklore knowledge about Bun bo Hue" in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List, in the form of folk knowledge.
This is a recognition of the unique cultural and culinary values associated with the life and beliefs of the ancient capital people, preserved and promoted through many generations. Hue artisans have passed down the secret to processing from the selection of ingredients, cooking broth to the presentation, creating a specialty dish with the soul of Hue culture.
The recognition of the two heritages not only contributes to affirming the unique cultural values of Hue, but also creates a legal foundation and motivation for the city to continue preserving and promoting in the strategy of developing the cultural industry, moving Hue towards the title of UNESCO Creative City in the culinary field.
