The opening ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long affirmed that, through thousands of years of history of fighting to build and defend the country with many ups and downs, the national identity and cultural traditions of the Vietnamese ethnic groups have been constantly cultivated and nurtured through generations with core values of solidarity, ardent patriotism, national self-reliance, community awareness, and connection between individuals - families - villages - the Fatherland.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, the week of "Great Unity of Ethnic Groups - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" and the 7th Festival of Then singing and Tinh lute of the Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups in 2024 is an opportunity to continue to honor, introduce and promote the beauty and unique cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic groups; commend outstanding examples from ethnic groups across the country; and practically celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23.
At the same time, continue to strongly spread humanistic values, the spirit of great solidarity, the tradition of mutual love and love for the homeland of the Vietnamese people.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: “In the new development stage, the 10-year Socio-Economic Development Strategy 2021-2030 identifies: Arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country, the will to be self-reliant and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc to build and protect the Fatherland. Maximizing the human factor, considering people as the center, subject, most important resource and goal of development; taking Vietnamese cultural values and people as the foundation, important endogenous strength to ensure sustainable development”.
Besides, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long believes that with the tradition of ardent patriotism, the spirit of solidarity, attachment and the thousands of years of cultural history of the nation, the unique values of the advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, will continue to be built, preserved and promoted.
The great national unity bloc will be continuously consolidated and strengthened, making an important contribution to socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people, and bringing the country firmly into a new era - the era of national growth.
Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that the Week of "Great National Unity - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" in 2024 is an opportunity to consolidate and strengthen the strength of the great national unity bloc under the leadership of the Party; honor, preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural values of the Vietnamese people.
With the motto "Let cultural subjects introduce themselves", the Week of "Great Unity of Ethnic Groups - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" will bring a joyful and united atmosphere, with many special activities: display, exhibition, product introduction; reenactment of unique festivals, special folk songs and dances; demonstration of national costumes...
After the opening ceremony, with the theme “Vietnam - The Era of Rising”, the art program took place in 4 chapters: Lyrics of the Tinh lute; heritage of convergence and shine; common belief; the era of rising of the nation. This is an art activity to convey the message of preserving traditional cultural values, the spirit of convergence and solidarity of our nation.
In particular, the 7th Festival of Then singing and Tinh musical instruments of the Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups gathered more than 400 artisans and mass actors to perform and introduce Then singing and Tinh musical instruments. At the same time, cultural products were displayed, weaving and Tinh musical instrument making were demonstrated, and the unique culinary culture of the localities was introduced.
Within the framework of the "Great Unity of Ethnic Groups - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" Week taking place from November 16 to 24, there are also attractive events: reenactment of the Sayangva Festival of the Cho Ro ethnic group in Dong Nai province; exchange of folk songs, folk dances, and folk games of the Khmer ethnic group; cultural exchange festival of the Central Highlands ethnic groups; experience of traditional culture associated with the cultural space of ethnic minorities...
This year's week is held to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the Traditional Day - the founding day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2024) and the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23). This is an opportunity to promote cultural identity and the spirit of great national unity that has been forged over thousands of years of building and defending the country.
