Speaking at the opening ceremony on the morning of November 16, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung - Director of the Department of Ethnic Culture said that the cultural heritage of Then singing of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups in Vietnam is a unique form of folk art and culture. Then singing is closely associated with the daily life of working people, becoming an essential need in the spiritual life of ethnic minorities.
The 7th Then singing and Tinh musical instrument festival of the Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups in 2024 has the theme "Preserving and promoting the art of Then singing and Tinh musical instruments of the Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups in the present period".
The program has the participation of more than 400 artisans, artists, and actors who are Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups living, studying, and working in 15 provinces and cities, including: Hanoi, Bac Giang, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Son La, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, and Lam Dong.
The festival is an opportunity to introduce and promote the unique cultural heritage values of ethnic minorities to domestic and international friends. Thereby honoring the unique cultural and artistic forms of the Tay and Nung Thai ethnic groups, contributing to promoting, developing and constantly creating new values in the period of sustainable development of the country.
The main activities of the Festival will take place at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism from November 16 to 24, including: displaying traditional cultural products; demonstrating brocade weaving and the process of making Tinh lutes of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups.
In addition, there is the display, processing and introduction of traditional ethnic products; the exhibition of images of "Then singing - Tinh lute art heritage"; thematic exhibition "Then cultural heritage in the life of the Tay, Nung, Thai ethnic groups".
In particular, this is also the first Then singing and Tinh lute art festival to take place in Hanoi. The program will have a parade on the central streets of Hanoi and performances, introducing the art of Then singing and Tinh lute at the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square stage.
Within the framework of the Festival, participating delegations will visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; visit the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Ngoc Son Temple; and the battle along the route: Hai Ba Trung - Trang Tien - Dinh Tien Hoang - Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square.
