Vietnam welcomed more than 482,000 visitors from the Philippine market in 2025. This result comes from the visa-free policy in ASEAN and the strengthening of bilateral exchanges between the two countries.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of Filipino tourists to Vietnam has recovered strongly and grown impressively. Filipino tourists especially prefer destinations such as Da Nang, Sa Pa, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang, along with Vietnamese cuisine.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, said that Vietnam and the Philippines have many similarities in tourism resources, natural and cultural conditions. Both are located in Southeast Asia, creating favorable conditions for cooperation in developing tourism products and attracting tourists.
The expansion of direct flights between major cities of the two countries also makes an important contribution to promoting the number of tourists.
In the opposite direction, the number of Vietnamese tourists to the Philippines is still unstable, even tending to decrease recently, partly due to increasing competition between destinations in the region.
Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III, said that Philippine airlines are implementing many initiatives to attract tourists. At the same time, the country is also considering opening a tourism representative office in Vietnam to strengthen its presence and promote cooperation.
Tourism cooperation between the two countries was established early and is continuing to be strengthened. In 2026, the Philippines will host the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in a rotating mechanism, with the active participation of Vietnam's tourism industry.
Currently, the Vietnam - Philippines tourism cooperation program for the period 2026-2029 is being completed and is expected to be signed soon, creating an important legal framework to implement specific activities and promote two-way visitor exchange.
