According to the travel website Escape (Australia), geopolitical fluctuations in some regions along with rising prices in Europe make Australian tourists tend to look for nearer, safer and cost-friendly destinations.
In which, Vietnam is assessed as a destination converging many advantages with diverse landscapes, unique culture, rich cuisine and an increasingly complete tourism ecosystem. In particular, direct flight time of less than 10 hours from Australia is considered a clear competitive advantage.
Data from the Travel Agent Finder platform shows that Vietnam is in the top 10 most searched destinations for March 2026 for the first time. This is a signal that the attractiveness of Vietnamese tourism is increasing strongly in the international market, especially with tourist groups from Oceania.
Not only stopping at the search trend, actual demand also recorded significant growth. The Expedia platform said that Vietnam's sea destinations are leading the trend in Asia. In which, Nha Trang and Da Nang recorded an increase of 65% in searches for accommodation compared to the same period last year. Phu Quoc also increased by 45%, surpassing many famous destinations in the region.
Ms. Sarah King, representative of Expedia, said: "Nha Trang is likened by international tourists to Vietnam's sea resort capital thanks to its long coastline, year-round sunny climate and fresh air". These are also the criteria that Australian tourists used to look for at Mediterranean destinations.

Besides tourism resources, reasonable cost factors continue to be a major advantage of Vietnam. Tourists can experience accommodation, cuisine and travel services at more competitive prices than many international destinations, while still ensuring the quality of experience.
Currently, air connectivity between Vietnam and Australia is increasingly convenient with many direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City. Airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Qantas and VietJet Air are strongly operating these routes, creating momentum to promote Vietnam's tourism growth in 2026 and the following years.
