Y Ty calls tourists' footsteps with the colors of the highlands

Lao Cai - Majestic landscape, unique climate, and rich Ha Nhi culture are creating more room for Y Ty to develop tourism.

In mid-September, Y Ty welcomes autumn days with chilly weather. On the roads to the commune center, groups of tourists come to the border highlands to admire the scenery, explore villages and search for typical moments of Y Ty autumn.

At the destinations, winding roads between mountains and forests, terraced fields and villages of the Ha Nhi people become stopovers and experiences for tourists.

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Phuong, a tourist from Hanoi, said that Y Ty impresses with its landscape and unique cultural features. According to her, having more time to explore the villages makes the highland trip more interesting.

Located at an altitude of over 20,000m above sea level, this place has a high mountainous terrain, a characteristic climate, along with terraced fields, mountains and forests and flower seasons creating a unique beauty.

Y Ty has many destinations rich in landscape and geographical values such as Thien Sinh bridge - the shortest international bridge connecting Vietnam and China; border markers; Choan Then park, happiness tree...

Besides, this is the residence of ethnic communities, especially the Ha Nhi people with unique cultural features.

Terraced houses, traditional costumes, handicrafts, customs, cuisine and festivals create a system of experiences associated with community life.

In Choan Then village, visitors can visit rammed earth houses, learn about weaving, sewing, embroidery and the life of the Ha Nhi people.

These are values that can continue to be exploited to form unique community tourism products.

On September 11-12, the "Y Ty - Attraction of the Great Forest" Autumn Festival 2026 was held in the commune center, with many cultural, sports and culinary activities.

The traditional costume performance program of Ha Nhi, Mong, Dao ethnic groups and experiential activities have added a highlight to the local autumn tourist season.

On September 19, informing reporters, Mr. Hoang Cong Kieu, Deputy Head of the Party Building Committee of Y Ty commune, said that the locality identifies tourism as a field with many potentials and advantages. In the coming time, the commune will focus on promoting and improving the landscape, preserving cultural identity; encouraging people to build cultural products, tourism services and attract investment in accommodation facilities and resorts.

Currently, Y Ty has nearly 30 accommodation establishments including resorts, guesthouses and homestays. Lao Chai and Choan Then villages are recognized as community tourism destinations of the province. The locality strives to maintain and develop community tourism destinations and attract more than 500,000 visitors each year.

More convenient transportation, unique landscapes, rich indigenous culture and gradually forming service systems are creating more conditions for Y Ty to exploit its tourism strengths.

Along with investing in infrastructure and products, Lao Cai is orienting digital transformation of tourism in the 2026-2030 period, focusing on building data, developing digital tourism products and innovating promotional activities on online platforms.

This will be another channel to bring images, landscapes and Y Ty culture closer to tourists.
