After the success of the previous season, on January 4-5, 2025, the Da Nang Chess Federation in coordination with the Intellectual Property and Creativity Magazine will organize the 5th Da Nang City Open Professional Athletes Chess Tournament in 2025 - competing for the Intellectual Property Cup at APEC Park (Da Nang City).
According to Mr. Bao Quang - General Secretary of the Da Nang Chess Federation: "This is the first time the tournament has a Standard Chess competition category for super young athletes from U05 - U11, amateur athletes and professional team athletes to participate in the competition".
As of December 23, 2024, the tournament attracted 571 registered athletes to compete. The Chess Tournament is expected to take place in 4 sessions on Saturday and Sunday (January 4-5, 2025).
The chess tournament aims to build and develop the school chess movement, professional and semi-professional chess in Da Nang City in particular and contribute to promoting the development of the national chess movement in general. Through the tournament, the Standard Chess competition creates opportunities for young athletes to compete in preparation for national and international tournaments in 2025.
The Intellectual Property Cup Chess Tournament contributes to enhancing exchanges and building a force of young athletes to improve the level of professional players, and selecting and supplementing the force of young semi-professional athletes of Da Nang City in 2025 - 2026.
The tournament will award 18 Intellectual Property trophies along with many medals, certificates and prizes to winning individuals/groups and team prizes. For groups with many athletes, the Organizing Committee will award additional consolation prizes...
Mr. Le Truc - Deputy Principal of Army English Center in Da Nang - said: "Army English Center in Da Nang will award 18 3-month scholarships worth 115 million VND. In addition, each athlete participating in the tournament will receive a 1-month scholarship worth 2.8 million VND each month."
On the sidelines of the tournament, there are many mini games for athletes to participate in for entertainment.
