On the afternoon of October 16, at Dong Thap University, the Organizing Committee of the Southwest region qualifying round of the 2025 National Student Football Tournament - TV360 Cup held a draw ceremony and arranged a competition schedule. The tournament is organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, aiming to create a healthy sports playground, enhance exchanges and physical training for students.
The Southwest region qualifying round brings together 7 teams from universities in the Mekong Delta region. The teams are divided into 2 groups. Group A includes Dong Thap University, Tra Vinh University and Can Tho University; Group B includes Vinh Long University of Technical Education, Nam Can Tho University, Tay Do University and Mekong Delta University. The teams will compete in a round robin to calculate points to select the top two teams in each group to enter the semi-finals, then compete for 2 tickets to represent the region to participate in the national finals in Hanoi, scheduled to take place in mid-November.
According to the plan, the qualifying round of the Southwest region will take place from October 17 to 26, with the opening match between Dong Thap University and Tra Vinh University at 4:30 p.m. on October 17.
In order to encourage the competitive spirit of the teams, the Organizing Committee awarded a total of more than 20 million VND. The champion team received 10 million VND, the runner-up team 6 million VND, and the two third-place teams received 4 million VND each.
At the draw ceremony, former player Huynh Quoc Cuong - who contributed to building the name of Dong Thap football - also attended and directly supported the draw for the group, contributing to creating an exciting atmosphere for the tournament.
The National Student Football Tournament is an annual activity, contributing to promoting the school sports movement and discovering young talents for Vietnamese football.
