The ASEAN Championship Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024 is the 15th edition of the region's premier football tournament at the national team level. Returning after a two-year cycle, the tournament will officially kick off on December 8. The Vietnamese national team will compete with four opponents in the same group: Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines and Myanmar.
According to the official schedule, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will play 2 home matches and 2 away matches, starting with a match against Laos at Anouvong Stadium (December 9). In the second match, the Vietnamese team will face Indonesia at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho Province (December 15).
After that, the “Golden Star Warriors” will face the Philippines at Rizal Memorial Stadium (December 18), before returning to Viet Tri Stadium to face Myanmar (December 21) in the final round of the group stage. All four matches will take place at the prime time: 8 p.m.
In this year's season, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the coaching staff have agreed on the goal for the Vietnamese team to reach the final and strive to compete for the championship. Compared to the achievements of the last 3 participations (2022, 2020, 2018), this goal is considered feasible.
