Real Madrid continues to show spending spree this summer when officially announcing a contract named Marc Cucurella from Chelsea.
Previously, the Santiago Bernabeu team had completed the recruitment of Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate. Cucurella became the next new player to arrive in the Spanish capital in Los Blancos' strengthening plan.
"Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement to transfer Marc Cucurella. The player will be with Real Madrid for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032" - Real Madrid homepage confirmed.
The announcement was made right before the time the Spanish national team entered the journey at the 2026 World Cup.
Cucurella is considered an important addition to Real Madrid's defense - a region that has revealed many problems in the past season. Comprehensive attack and defense ability, abundant physical foundation and top-level playing experience in the Premier League help the 27-year-old defender become a priority target of the Royal team.
Growing up from Barcelona's La Masia training academy, Cucurella never had the opportunity to play for Blaugrana's first team. He accumulated experience in La Liga in Eibar and Getafe colors before moving to England to play for Brighton.
Under the guidance of coach Graham Potter, Cucurella rose to become one of the most prominent full-backs in the Premier League. Impressive performances helped him catch the eye of Chelsea, where Cucurella joined in the summer of 2022.
After three seasons at Stamford Bridge and becoming an important factor in The Blues' system, Cucurella decided to return to Spain to start a new chapter in his career with Real Madrid.
